Season 2 of Donald Glover’s Atlanta Heats Up
The second season of Atlanta does not disappoint. The focus of the program has shifted to a theme entitled “Robbin’ Season,” which goes deeper into each character’s mindset and expands the storyline.
The series is a comedy-drama on FX, created by and stars the multi-talented Donald Glover. Donald serves as a writer with his brother Stephen Glover and as director. He is also an executive producer of the series along with Dianne McGunigle and Paul Simms. Atlanta also stars Brian Tyree Henry, Lakeith Stanfield, and Zazie Beetz.
Atlanta centers around the lives of two cousins working Atlanta’s rap scene in an effort to improve their lives and the lives of their families.

The series is highly acclaimed and has received an avalanche of awards, including two Golden Globe Awards for Best Television Series Musical or Comedy and Best Actor Television Series Musical or Comedy, and two Primetime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series and Outstanding Directing for a Comedy Series. Glover’s Emmy win for Outstanding Directing for a Comedy Series will go down in history as the first ever awarded to an African-American.
Speaking at an FYC screening Donald said, “I align the seasons I think, to me, like Kanye records … I feel like this is our ‘Graduation.’ This is probably our most accessible but also the most real — an honest version of it — and I feel like the most enjoyable, like the third album.” Donald’s brother Stephen added, “What’s exciting to me is that we can do almost anything… And also, all the writers are very excited to try to top themselves.”
Atlanta was renewed for a third season going into 2019.
