Gordan Parks, Jr. directed and Ron O’Neal became a star as Youngblood Priest, a cocaine dealer trying to leave the underworld drug business behind.

The original Super Fly (notice how the titles differ) was categorized as blaxploitation ethnic sub-genre and grossed more than 30 million dollars. The numbers were impressive for 1972 and the entire soundtrack, written and produced by the incredible Curtis Mayfield, became the cultural voice of a decade.

Fast forward to 2018 and the remake of SUPERFLY, directed by Director X is coming to a theater near you. Starring Trevor Jackson as Youngblood Priest, Jason Mitchell as Eddie, Michael Kenneth Williams as Scatter, Lex Scott Davis as Georgia, Jennifer Morrison as Detective Mason, Jacob Ming-Trent as Fat Freddie, Andrea Londo as Cynthia, Omar Chaparro as Adalberto, Terayle Hill as Dee, Allen Maldonado as Litty, Al-Jaleel Knox as Shooter, and Rick Ross Big Boi as Mayor Atkins Lecrae.

This SUPERFLY soundtrack is by Future and features 13 new and previously released songs with guest appearances from Miguel, Lil Wayne, Khalid, Ty Dolla Sign, Young Thug, PartyNextDoor, H.E.R., Gunna, Sleepy Brown, Yung Bans, among others.

Meet the visionary director of SUPERFLY, Director X. We discussed why he wanted to take on the massive task of bringing this film and the characters into 2018.


I also sat down with SUPERFLY ‘s Trevor Jackson who stars as Youngblood Priest and Jason Mitchell who plays Eddie.

And I interviewed Lex Scott Davis who joins the cast as Georgia.
