Saying Goodbye to Bill Withers
Three-time Grammy winner, Bill Withers has passed away from heart complications at the age of 81. Bill was a friend and I will truly miss him, and my deepest sympathies go out to his wife, Marcia, and children, Todd and Kori.
William Harrison Withers Jr. was a mesmerizing singer, songwriter, and musician. His major hits were recorded between 1970 and 1985, including Ain’t No Sunshine (1971), Lean on Me (1972), Lovely Day (1977), and Just the Two of Us (1980).
He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2015. Bill Withers, Stevie Wonder, and John Legend performed Lean on Me at the 2015 Induction Ceremony.

We will always remember Bill Withers. His music is ingrained in our culture and has become the soundtrack of our lives.
In 2015 Bill described how he viewed his body of work to Rolling Stones Magazine when he said, “I’m not a virtuoso, but I was able to write songs that people could identify with. I don’t think I’ve done bad for a guy from Slab Fork, West Virginia.”
Rest in peace Bill Withers, your music will forever be an inspiration to the world.
