2019 MTV Movie & TV Awards
Shazam! star, Zachary Levi hosted the 2019 MTV Movie & TV Awards. The program was filmed at the Barker Hanger in Santa Monica. This was the third year MTV honored the best in film and television. Previous MTV awards programs only focused on movies.
Zachary opened the broadcast and welcomed everyone saying, “I want tonight to be fun and positive.” He said the best thing about the awards are the categories because no other program has them. He joked that Jason Momoa’s nipples should have a category of
He called out Lizzo and her table of stars, and Sandra Bullock. He also welcomed Ray J in the audience and made a bad joke about him begin a cameraman in reference to his sex tape with Kim. Ray J and his group were not thrilled by the reference.
Gal Gadot, Wonder Woman was the first presenter. The category was Most Frightened Performance. The 2019 MTV Movie & TV Award went to Sandra Bullock for Bird Box.
Sandra thanked Netflix for letting them make a movie on bad parenting. Sandra said, “No matter how it comes together family is what you fight for and family is what you protect. She then became a nagging mother on the topic of kids not listening.
She ended by saying her son told her that the kind of movies she should appear in should superhero movies. So she brought him to the show with her so he could stand in the same room with real superheroes and see how many of the superheroes are women just like his mama.
2019 MTV Movie & TV Awards continued with the MTV Generation Award presented to Dwayne Johnson. The Rock was given a very nice salute with dancers jamming to Queen’s We Will Rock You before he took the stage and gave the crowd his famous raised eyebrow.

Dwayne continued and said when he came to Hollywood, Hollywood didn’t know what to do with him. They wanted to change him, and he bought into it. He felt it was wrong for him and then decided that he wasn’t going to conform to Hollywood anymore, Hollywood was going to conform to him.”
He ended his acceptance with his favorite quote, “It’s nice to be important, but it’s more important to be nice.”
Shameik Moore was the next presenter. The category, Best Host. The 2019 MTV Movie & TV Award went to Nick Cannon. He was nominated for Wild ‘n Out and The Masked Singer.
Tiffany Haddish, Melissa McCarthy, and Aubrey Plaza introduced Lizzo’s performance of her big hit Juice. Of course, she killed.
The next category was Reality Royalty. The MTV Movie & TV Award went to Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta. Cast members, Karlie Redd, Spice, Lil Scrappy and his wife the Bam accepted the award. It was a real shocker, even to them. They thanked the shows create Monia Scott-Young.
The Best Fight Award went to Brie Lawson for Captain Marvel — Captain Marvel vs. Minn-Erva.
The Trailblazer Award was the next category and the presenter was Tiffany Haddish. Jada Pinkett Smith was honored with this year’s Trailblazer Award. Tiffany introduced her friend Jada and the video that walked us through her career and contributions.
Jada took the sage with her son Jaden. He just helped her up and make the awards cheer louder for his mother. She thanked MTV and talked about how she wondered if she deserved the award. She said every single person in the room is trailblazing and ended her speech with, “Here’s to us for all of our trailblazing.”
The next category of Best Performance in a Movie went to Lady Gaga for A Star is Born. Gaga was not in attendance. Her award was accepted for her by the presenters.
Zachary starred in a parody of the movie Get Out. With June Diane Raphael from Grace and Frankie. The actual cast sitting in the audience loved it.
The category of Best Kiss went to Noah Centineo and Lana Condor — To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before. Lana ended their speech by saying, “Kiss who you want to kiss, love who you want to love, and don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.”

Zachary also did a parody of Game of Thrones. He played off the actors in GOT by performing to clips. Cast members sitting
Bazzi was the next performer to take the stage. He performed his hit song, Paradise.
Best Performance in a Show, a category with all female nominees, went to Elisabeth Moss — The Handmaid’s Tale. Elisabeth thanked all the badass women in this category, and ended her speech with, “Don’t let the bastards grind you down.”
Breakthrough Performance Award went to Noah Centineo — To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before. He spoke about not being happy outside of himself before he found what did make him happy was helping others.
Best Comedic Performance, the category in which Zachary was also nominated, went to Daniel Levy — Schitt’s Creek.
Tessa Thompson was the last presenter for the final category of the evening which was Best Movie. The 2019 MTV Movie & TV Award went to Avengers: Endgame.
The 2019 MTV Movie & TV Awards was “fun and positive” just like Zachary wanted.
