I have been in the business for a long time. I have been the subject of many articles and television shows, but no publication about my media career, music, and family has ever been as well done as the article in the Global Communicator by Christy DeBoe Hicks.

I want to thank Christy DeBoe Hicks for such a thorough, well written, and in-depth dive into my life. She even goes back to my childhood growing up in Muskegon, on Lake Michigan in Northwestern Michigan.

“My mother was always open about letting me know that I was adopted, and who I was adopted from because they were good people,” … “So, it was interesting growing up because I had two families.”

My family, husband Phil Hart, and daughter Ayanna, spent decades vacationing on Martha’s Vineyard, and still do. It is our home away from home. Our love affair with the island is covered extensively.
“When we bought our first house in Edgartown, which had been incorporated in 1614, we were, interestingly enough, only the second Black family to buy there, and that was in the 1980s,” she recalls. “But now, that’s where all the Black people go. Everybody’s buying in Edgartown now.”
And she even included that I sing. I rarely mention my music career.
“I had a ten-piece rock band, and those are the folks that you will hear on Tanya Hart Sings,” … “And I also hooked up with Christopher Brooks, who was Cab Calloway’s grandson, and we had a group and recorded some things.”
You can read the whole article on the Global Communicator. Christy DeBoe is a communications consultant, writer, and editor with more than 30 years of experience, and it shows.
Thank You, Christy!
