The NABJ inducted me into the 2022 Hall of Fame! NABJ’s Hall of Fame pays homage to legendary Black journalists and communicators who have made outstanding contributions to the industry. My induction was part of NABJ’s 2022 induction ceremony for their Hall of Fame Special Honors Awards.
The induction ceremony for the National Association of Black Journalists 2022 Hall of Fame took place in Las Vegas. The Hall of Fame Induction and Luncheon was hosted by Shaquille Brewster, NBC News and MSNBC Correspondent, and Rachel Scott, ABC News Congressional Correspondent.

The NABJ also honored the following distinguished Black journalists for their contributions to the industry.
- Michelle V. Agins – Photographer, The New York Times
- Charles W. “Hoppy” Adams, Jr. (Posthumously) – Executive Vice President, WANN/WXTC
- Harry D. Boomer – Anchor/Senior Reporter, Cleveland 19 News
- Tanya K. Hart – Producer/Host, Hollywood Live, American Urban Radio Networks
- Levi Henry, Jr. – Founder/Publisher, Westside Gazette Newspaper
- Cheryl Smith – Publisher-Editor, I Messenger Media
“I am so grateful to Board President, Dorothy Tucker, and the other members who nominated me for this prestigious award,” Hart said in a news release. “I am humbled, excited, and inspired, and most importantly with God’s grace I will continue to tell my listener the truth, which is, of course, the backbone of good journalism.”
