Lee Daniels’ Empire
Lee Daniels has brought his film expertise to television with the series called, Empire. Lee Daniels’ Empire is a musical drama about a family immersed in a hip-hop empire.
Terrence Howard plays Lucious Lyon, the kingpin of the empire. He’s the CEO of Empire Entrainment and he’s been at the top of the game for years.
Taraji P. Henson plays his wife Cookie. A woman with a criminal past that includes prison for almost two decades. But don’t feel too bad for her yet, because she’s no withering flower. Cookie is an outspoken member of the family who feels that she served time and took the fall for the drug-running business that financed her husband’s early career, and now she wants her cut.
The plot thickens as Lucious discovers he’s dying of a terminal illness and must groom one of his three sons to take over the Empire.
This is a 20th Century Fox Television production. Lee Daniels is also the executive producer along with Danny Strong, Brian Grazer and Francie Calfo.
