Get On Up, the James Brown story has been receiving rave reviews well before it hits the theaters this weekend. The film gives you a new appreciation for the “Hardest Working Man in Show Business.”
Chadwick Boseman plays James Brown so well, it’s almost scary. And coming from me that’s really saying something because I personally knew James Brown pretty well for the last twenty-five years of his life.
Chadwick says working on the film gave him a new perspective of the Godfather of Soul and how hard he worked throughout his career. He also touched on the social and political impact of such songs as Say It Loud – I’m Black and I’m Proud, Don’t Be a Drop-Out and I Don’t Want Nobody to Give Me Nothing, that he says truly brought a sense of pride to the Black community and taught us something about ourselves.
I sat down with Chadwick as he prepared for the release of the film. Click on our picture below to see my interview on Aurn.Com.
Get On Up takes you back and through the many twists and turns in Brown’s life, and the story is portrayed through a stellar cast, including Nelsan Ellis, Dan Aykroyd, Viola Davis, Craig Robinson, Octavia Spencer, Lennie James, Tika Sumpter, and Jill Scott.
Get to the theater this weekend and go see Get On Up.
After this movie, you’ll feel good.
