Dave Chappelle head shotIt’s been seven long years since he suddenly walked away from his wildly popular comedy show called, Chappelle’s Show on Comedy Central. The series premiered in January 2003 and enjoyed near cult status until it abruptly ended at the top of the third season in July 2006 when Dave Chappelle walked out and never returned.

Since he disappeared, Chappelle has surprised club goers from time to time with his stand-up comedy, but beyond that, he has pretty much stayed under the radar until now.

No, there’s no announcement that Chappelle’s Show is returning, but Dave Chappelle is going on a 13 stop tour with Flight of the Conchords. His return has just been announced by Funny Or Die to perform in their Oddball Comedy & Curiosity Festival.

The Oddball Tour begins on Aug. 23 and will move through 13 cities with an incredible, don’t miss, show line-up. Chappelle and the Conchords will appear with The Daily Show’s Al Madrigal, Demetri Martin, Hannibal Buress, John Mulaney, Kristen Schaal and more; which probably code for expect some surprises.

This festival is described by promoters as a “full festival experience”, and will feature two stages, vendors, street performers, and several other amenities to add to the festival feel.

Could this mean we may be seeing more of Chappelle in the future? There are rumors of other collaborations, but we will see. I’m ready for more Chappelle no matter where he performs.

Welcome back, Dave!
