BET Founder Bob Johnson Says It Is Time for Reparations
On the issue of reparations to African Americans for slavery, Bob Johnson, founder of Black Entertainment Television, BET told CNBC it’s time, “Now is the time to go big to keep America from dividing into two separate and unequal societies.”
I’ve known Bob for a very long time and today he is focused on reparation for Black America. Listen to our interview. He explains what reparations are and that the government should provide $14 trillion in reparations for slavery to help reduce racial inequality.
Reparation is not a new issue, but Johnson’s approach is. Bob said, “I’m talking about cash. We are a society based on wealth. That’s the foundation of capitalism.”
Bob said the issue of reparation is not a new focus for him either and has been on his website, rljcompanies.com since last year.
Robert Johnson is the first Black billionaire in America. He sold BET to Viacom in 2001.
Bob is a powerhouse and is putting the need for reparations back on the table and if there is anyone that can get the job done, it’s Bob Johnson.
